Babies are most womb-like during the first 10 days of their lives. They still tend to sleep quite a bit and aren’t experiencing tummy irritability just yet. That is when we can capture those sweet sleeping (and sometimes waking) moments of contentment. New babies also pose easily and love to be swaddled, which makes your most desired photo images as simple as creating a cozy, comfortable space for them to snuggle in.
Once you get past the 2-week mark in a baby’s life, they seem to be more alert and start having “an opinion” about what you may be wanting them to do. Cooperation seems to be more of a challenge at that point, and those sweet newborn images that you had pictured in your mind may be more elusive. In light of this, it’s best to book your newborn session to occur just a few days after birth, if possible. We don’t want to miss out on that magic window of sweet calmness.
